Ph(i)ew. A review of the Nokia 808 as a camera with its unique pixel oversampling technology and 41MP sensor.

There are inexpensive compact cameras that offer more photographer-friendly features than the 808, but as a cameraphone, the Nokia blows its competition out of the water, and significantly narrows the gap between dedicated cameras and portable communications devices to the point where ultimate convergence seems all but inevitable (and probably sooner than some commentators had realised).

New technology allows physical buttons to rise from a touchscreen.

The Tactile Layer technology created by Tactus Technology uses microfluidics to allow physical buttons or shapes to rise up out of a touch screen. The technology adds no further thickness to the screen as it replaces a layer of traditional touchscreen display stacks.

Check out the video, it looks almost unbelieveable! The best part is that this isn’t just a one-off prototype in a lab, but a demonstration Android Tablet using a technique that’s almost ready for mass production. The company says the technology will be available in tablets, phones, and other mobile devices from 2013.

It was perfect. I could imagine it having tools and materials and workbenches. I could imagine groups of curious kids being active, social, and mobile.
